Some utilities automatically condemn groups of meters by certainmanufacture/size/type immediately after infesting. The followingconsiderations enter into determining such groups:

    1. Tin meter: unsuitable for outside sets in some climates;skilled repair personnel unavailable; parts unavailable;temperature correction cannot be added.

    2. Repair/replace analysis shows repair uneconomical.

    3. Poor performance history, regardless of the extent ofrepair.

    4. Desire to phase out, were small number owned, to decreaseparts inventory and to decrease the number of different type metersets.
